How did a small town girl grow into an internet sensation? Lana Del Rey is an american singer/songwriter. She is thirty seven years old and has released a total of nine albums. She was even nominated artist of the decade, by Variety. Many consider her to be the most influencial artist of our time. Her career is shrouded in mystery as she has changed names many times during her career as a singer. A lot of people say they like her due to her calming almost hypnotic luluby voice. In this biography I wiill go through her career and life to set the records straight.
Early Life Lana Del Rey was born on June 21, 1989 to parents Robert England Grant, Jr and Patricia Ann Hill. She was raised in Lake Placid, New York. For most of Lana’s early life she grew up quite wealthy, but later moved away from her parents due to unknown reasons. She spent most of her teenage years wheing tables at a local diner, and had always had dreams of being a big singer. Those dreams wouldn’t come true until 2011.
Early Career Lana Del Rey started performing at bars in 2006 – 2009. She would use stage names. Then one day, she got signed by a record label to make 11 albums for 30 000 dollars, she accepted the offer but later found a producer that let her stay at his apartment in new york to record new music.
Blue Jeans Lana Del Rey lived at that producer’s apartment until 2012 when she picked out the new stage name “Lana Del Rey”, and released her first single, “Blue Jeans”, onto YouTube. The single was very well receaved and she used it to market her new album that was to come out in 2012 called, “Born to die” the single was so popular that she was brought onto SNL to preform it but her performance was not what the people expected and many called it horrible.
Born To Die Lana Del Rey released her album, “Born to Die” on January 27, 2012. It was number one on the Billboard hot 100 in America and everyone’s faith in Lana started to be restored. This album was a pivical point in her career due to it being the album that jump-started her career and helped shape the singer she is today. Many call it one of her greatest albums she has produced.
Middle Career Lana’s middle career was pretty rocky. She had dissapeared from the public eye and cancelled her “Norman F***ing Rockwell Tour!” due to her becoming ill and losing her voice. She had released her 7th studio album “Chemtrails Over The Country Club”. Which may people called a complete disaster, and was nothing compared to her 6th album, “Norman F***ing Rockwell!”, which was arguably her best album by far.
Late Career Lana Del Rey released “Blue Banisters”, her latest record, and unlike “Chemtrails” it was very well received. She also made a single with Taylor Swift for Taylor’s album “Midnights”, and Lana is releasing another album on March 17th 2023 called “Did You Know That There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd”.
Conclusion Lana Del Rey has had a very amazing career, from being mocked to being a very respected singer /songwriter, and I think that’s what makes her so likeable for many people.
